I am a book blogger and the owner of Bookworm Blues - a popular speculative fiction book review website. I have been a compulsive reader all my life. Early on found my reading niche in the fantastic genre of Speculative Fiction. I blame my active imagination for the hobbies that threaten to consume my life. A freelance writer and photographer, world traveler and recent college graduate, I'm also a new mother, cancer fighter & survivor. In my ideal world, I'd do nothing but drink lots of tea and read from a never ending pile of speculative fiction books. Respected as a reviewer, I receive book ARCs from all of the major and most minor publishers in science fiction and fantasy. But given my love of stories, I've always wanted to be a part of the creative process, and editing is my first step in that direction.

SF Signal Podcast

A few things are dropping this week, so I will keep the announcements flowing when things of note pop up elsewhere. One of those things dropped this morning. As many of you know, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be on a podcast. Not because I like to hear myself talk, but because I want SO desperately,…

Squee!

I don’t lose my shit over book stuff often (“Wow, Sarah. Way to look professional.”) but when I do, it’s usually pretty extreme. For example, when Orbit contacted me about doing a mini-interview with K.J. Parker, I think I needed medication just to cope with how amazing my life was for about a week. Today…

Why Rejections Shouldn’t Bother You

For a while now I’ve been working on some short stories. Currently, due to a deal falling through for various reasons, I am actively looking for publication. This is a really interesting process for me because everything I’ve written that’s been published before (Don’t ask. If these short stories get published, they will be the…

Websites of Note

The interesting thing about Twitter is that I learn about so many websites I wouldn’t have otherwise known about. Today, before I post my review of The Republic of Thieves, I’m going to share a little love and point you in the direction of some blogs that don’t get the attention they deserve. There are…

Cover Art | Among the Thorns – Veronica Schanoes

It isn’t often that cover art makes me stop in my tracks and just stare for a few minutes. This cover, however, did. Tor.com just released this on Facebook. I’m nabbing it and putting it on my website because… LOOK AT IT.  Full disclosure: This novella will be released on tor.com in April, 2014. Author’s profile,…
